What is Untourist?
Untourist is an iPhone app for short, self-guided audio walks through New York. Each walk follows one story through real places.
Which walks can I take now?
How New York Claimed Culture, The Secret behind Prospect Park's Magic are currently available in the TestFlight beta. Other walks in the catalog are marked in progress until they are ready.
How do I get the app?
Use a Join TestFlight link on this site to open Apple's TestFlight invitation on your iPhone.
How long are the walks?
Most Untourist walks fit into an hour or less. Each listing shows its own estimated time and distance, and you can move at your own pace.
Are the walks guided turn by turn?
The app gives you a GPS route and audio at selected places. There is no group or fixed schedule to keep up with.
Can I pause or take a detour?
Yes. Pause when something catches your attention, wander, and return to the story when you are ready.
Can I download a walk before I leave?
Yes. Save the route details and audio in advance so the walk is available when signal is uneven.
Is Untourist audio-first?
Yes. Narration is designed to be heard while you are in the places that help tell the story.
How much does Untourist cost?
Passes cost $9.99 for 2 days, $19.99 for 7 days, $29.99 for 30 days. TestFlight access is free during beta.
